Brain Trauma
Brain injury is one of the most overlooked conditions in psychiatry. I cannot tell you how many patients I have seen with undiagnosed brain injuries. Many go undetected because the person did not lose consciousness during the trauma. Much of the general public (including many doctors) believes that you have to lose consciousness to have a brain injury—that’s simply not true.
People with brain injuries have an increased incidence of mood problems, disruptions in family life, marital conflict, substance abuse, job related difficulties, and even legal problems
