Jennifer Sparks is Nationally Certified as a Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).  In pursuit of her great interests in psychology, Jennifer obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.  In her undergraduate coursework, she majored in psychology and minored in sociology, with a special interest in criminology.  Jennifer then obtained her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.  Throughout her studies, Jennifer developed a passion for helping hurting individuals to find hope, healing, growth and change.  

Having successfully completed the National Counseling Examination for Licensure, she began pursuing her internship.  During her internship, Jennifer worked with adults, adolescents, and children in both individual and family situations.  She worked with clients in home-based, community-based, and clinical settings to create safe and productive environments, and assisted her clients as they pursued their personal treatment goals.  

Jennifer has extensive therapeutic experience with adults, couples and families in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and intensive partial hospital settings.  Jennifer was granted her license to counsel (LPC) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.  She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA) and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

She enjoys working with adults in both individual and group settings.  Her treatment preferences include individuals struggling to cope with Personality Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, and Bipolar Disorders.  Jennifer also enjoys assisting individuals with Adjustment issues, Anger issues, Self-destructive patterns, Grief and Loss issues, Relationship and Family issues, and those recovering from Sexual, Emotional, and Physical Abuse, as well as various other traumatic experiences.  Jennifer has a special interest in working with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) clients, and is currently pursuing additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Jennifer maintains a firm belief that life experience is necessary to fully engage with clients as a therapist.  She believes that above and beyond textbook knowledge, the ability to connect with individuals on a personal level is key to the therapeutic process.  Jennifer believes that through connection, we all find healing, and she draws upon her own life experiences to connect with, to encourage and to offer hope to her clients.
